SALON – a discussion that allows thought leaders to focus on key ideas that further personal thought, challenge beliefs and inspire action.
The Salon was an Italian invention of the 16th century which flourished in France throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. Throughout this time period people gathered together in Salons to discuss relevant issues of the period ranging from philosophy to government to key issues. This period was called “the age of conversation” and it ushered in a new community where individuals could intellectually discuss topics that were previously restricted to nobles and clergymen.
Major ideas spread through Salons where citizens could speak their mind freely and where “politeness took second-place to academic discussion.” It was true freedom, freedom to listen, to learn, and to contribute.
It’s time to bring Salons back.
It’s time to get thinkers together to exchange ideas, receive and give criticism, refine knowledge, and challenge further exploration of important issues.
The next Salon will be January 25th at 7:30. Here is the link to the Wild Card Salon Facebook Event.
